CURRENT SITUATION & SUMMARY

The SOAR Team maximized SAR efforts today by employing the SOAR Team’s unique skill set in networking and coordinating responses across multiple on-ground organizations. Aerial Recovery thrives in leveraging partnerships to maximize efficiency and save lives. This capability stood out today as the team conducted urban search and rescue (USAR) and simultaneously coordinated with various international heavy equipment teams, K9 teams, and local security forces.

Aerial Recovery SOAR Team partners with French USAR teams, US based K9 teams, advanced thermal techs, Turkish locals, and the Turkish Army to work through the night on a potential rescue. CURRENT SITUATION & SUMMARY

SOAR operations today focused primarily on sign of life assessments in central Hatay. The team worked in cooperation with Gideon Rescue CO K9 and a mobile drone team from BRINC, but, unfortunately, discovered no remaining signs of life. However, the team was able to continue to make valuable assessments of survivor and refugee needs in the area.

Aerial Recovery SOAR Team and a BRINC drone team conduct structure assessments of destabilized, multistory buildings with limited access. Aerial Recovery received the BRINC mobile drone team on ground and immediately directed them to high-rise buildings with limited access. The BRINC team remotely assessed the buildings using advanced, purpose built drone systems. CURRENT SITUATION & SUMMARY

The team continued to focus on the Antakya/Hatay, Turkiye area for a second day as rescue teams scramble to find any remaining survivors before the rescue window closes. Tensions on both the Syrian and Turkish sides continue to rise with increased looting, civil unrest, and mass numbers of internally displaced people (IDP). The Aerial Recovery SOAR Team will prioritize all effort toward search and rescue (SAR) if there is hope of finding even a single remaining survivor.

The Aerial Recovery SOAR Team assists in clearing debris and stands by for immediate medical care for three survivors still trapped in Antakya, Turkiye. The Aerial Recovery Special Operations Advanced Reconnaissance (SOAR) Team, Aerial Tier 2 and Tier 3 Volunteers, and partners from the Cajun Navy working in cooperation to provide immediate disaster response operations in the greater FT Meyers, FL area due to the substantial wind and flood damage caused by Hurricane Ian. Both teams traveled into the outer bands of Hurricane Ian to be postured to act as soon as possible following the storm. The Aerial Team moved quickly to conduct search and rescue and began extracting and evacuating local residents within 30min of arrival at FT Meyers. The Aerial Recovery Special Operations Advanced Reconnaissance(SOAR) Team and our partners, the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), continue to combine efforts to not just identify, but find solutions to problems associated with the flooding in Pakistan. The teams are focused on the hardest to reach areas where families are isolated or haven chosen to stay cut off due to the need to tend to livestock (water buffalo, cow, donkey and camels), as they are most of the rural people’s livelihoods. The teams continue to conduct medical assessments and deliver GEM aid to a large portion of the province. Additional support in the way of other NGO’s on ground, awareness, supplies and donations are greatly needed to help the hundreds of thousands in Pakistan who are in desperate need.

Follow-on Aerial Recovery Group (ARG) team members are enroute and the Mission Leader has made it across the border. Contact with the advanced recon team has taken place and brief backs have begun.  The Polish team house was found to be unsuitable for operations and an alternative was identified and secured.  Meetings with Ukrainian authorities have been set for early morning of the 5th of March. Aerial team expects to be fully mission capable within the next 48 hours.  Global Empowerment mission has sent medical supplies, equipment and food which was delivered by ARG to a Lviv church partner.  Additional larger distribution locations need to be scouted and large areas to hold refugees coming west on the Ukrainian side of the border.  Pre-coordination to include flights have been made with the Medical Support team and they...

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Established TEAM HOUSE “COLORADO”, host was very hospitable and was great about providing local knowledge.
  • Morning was spent coordinating efforts with NGO groups in the region that are running supply routes.   
  • 1200: coordinated with a driver to take us around the City to identify refugee safe houses and perform route reconnaissance.     
  • 1330: communicated with bus drivers the importance of the fully stocking and preparing safe havens for current and future rescued orphans. 
  • 1415: Interpreter brought two drivers with two cars to assist in further reconnaissance and defensive position checks around the City. 
  • Our first stop was at a large church that had class rooms available while school was canceled for boarding of orphans.  Church had a kitchen and bedding to help.
