BLUF

The Aerial Recovery Special Operations Advanced Reconnaissance (SOAR) Team, Aerial Tier 2 and Tier 3 Volunteers, and partners from the Cajun Navy working in cooperation to provide immediate disaster response operations in the greater FT Meyers, FL area due to the substantial wind and flood damage caused by Hurricane Ian. Both teams traveled into the outer bands of Hurricane Ian to be postured to act as soon as possible following the storm. The Aerial Team moved quickly to conduct search and rescue and began extracting and evacuating local residents within 30min of arrival at FT Meyers. Aerial Recovery and Cajun Navy personnel conducted water rescues, treated individuals for hypothermia, shock, and other physical trauma, evacuated priority patients to the first hospital to open in the area, and safely transferred residents to a...

The Aerial Recovery Special Operations Advanced Reconnaissance(SOAR) Team and our partners, the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), continue to combine efforts to not just identify, but find solutions to problems associated with the flooding in Pakistan. The teams are focused on the hardest to reach areas where families are isolated or haven chosen to stay cut off due to the need to tend to livestock (water buffalo, cow, donkey and camels), as they are most of the rural people’s livelihoods. The teams continue to conduct medical assessments and deliver GEM aid to a large portion of the province. Additional support in the way of other NGO’s on ground, awareness, supplies and donations are greatly needed to help the hundreds of thousands in Pakistan who are in desperate need.

Additionally, combined efforts have been made to expand and vet our contacts in the country to allow for safe passage as well as answer questions presented by other NGOs not yet on the ground. The Government of Pakistan has issued an emergency appeal for international aid to provide relief from severe flooding deemed by UN Secretary General António Guterres as a “monsoon on steroids.” The country is facing one of the most destructive flooding events in recent memory. With nearly one-third of Pakistan currently under water, no province has been left unscathed. Approximately 33 million people—one in seven Pakistanis—have been impacted by this catastrophic flooding, leaving over 1,100 dead (including more than 300 children) and $10 billion in damages in a country still reeling from decades of economic turmoil. Follow-on Aerial Recovery Group (ARG) team members are enroute and the Mission Leader has made it across the border. Contact with the advanced recon team has taken place and brief backs have begun.  The Polish team house was found to be unsuitable for operations and an alternative was identified and secured.  Meetings with Ukrainian authorities have been set for early morning of the 5th of March. Aerial team expects to be fully mission capable within the next 48 hours.  Global Empowerment mission has sent medical supplies, equipment and food which was delivered by ARG to a Lviv church partner.  Additional larger distribution locations need to be scouted and large areas to hold refugees coming west on the Ukrainian side of the border.  Pre-coordination to include flights have been made with the Medical Support team and they...

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Established TEAM HOUSE “COLORADO”, host was very hospitable and was great about providing local knowledge.
  • Morning was spent coordinating efforts with NGO groups in the region that are running supply routes.   
  • 1200: coordinated with a driver to take us around the City to identify refugee safe houses and perform route reconnaissance.     
  • 1330: communicated with bus drivers the importance of the fully stocking and preparing safe havens for current and future rescued orphans. 
  • 1415: Interpreter brought two drivers with two cars to assist in further reconnaissance and defensive position checks around the City. 
  • Our first stop was at a large church that had class rooms available while school was canceled for boarding of orphans.  Church had a kitchen and bedding to help.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • 0900 Meeting with GEM leadership about supply chain coming from CONUS and expected arrival dates.  Coordinated tentative delivery points in Lviv, Ukraine. 
  • 0930 March 2, J. M. and F. T. departed hotel to secure supplies to redistribute in Lviv, Ukraine.    
  • At 1100 first vehicle was secured, supplies picked up and departed for border crossing Alpha route drive time was about 2.5 hours.  The last hour was a two lane unmaintained rural route with significant potholes.   
  • Approximately 2 miles from the border local Ukrainian police had traffic stopped and would not allow entry to access crossing.  After a conversation about being NGO they cooperated.

Aerial Recovery Group’s follow on team has successfully linked up with advanced reconnaissance team.  Information has been passed off, and current plans are moving forward as expected.  Due to increased requests for support, Aerial will be immediately deploying an additional support team.  Donations will be needed to support operations. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • On 28 February, J. Martinez and F. Russell departed Nashville, TN to their destination Rzeszow, Poland. Arrived at Hotel Rzeszow at 1830 after a 4-hour layover in kWarsaw, Poland. Op agenda is to secure transportation and secure safe-houses in LVIV.  Identify a distribution point to provide aid relief to Ukrainian Refugees & Orphans in partnership with Global Empowerment Mission.

The Aerial Recovery Group Team (Aerial) conducted medical transports to patients who were identified in the harder to reach areas of Port Louis de Sud and surrounding communities. Medical supplies were restocked and information gathered during the clearance of the mountains in the circles below was distributed to Mission of Hope for the coordination of aid to be airlifted in. Aerial also conducted a link up with four additional team members to increase the search ability. Two areas of interest were identified for the next 48-72 hours worth of missions.
